Conceptual
art, sometimes simply called conceptualism, is art in which the concept
or idea involved in the work take precedence over traditional
aesthetic, technical, and material concerns. In other words, it is art
in which the idea presented by the artist is considered more important than the finished product, if there is one.

1 Art I’m Passionate About Ryan Brennfleck I used to really enjoy going to the Lowe Art Museum, but nowadays I view most of my art through my social media feeds. This has allowed me to explore artists and mediums I never even knew existed. A big rabbit hole I've gone down recently is embroidery. It first appealed to me because I wanted to put it on clothes but I soon learned that there's much more to stings and needles than that of what I had previously known. On Instagram I’ve followed many embroidery accounts but, bystaceyjones has been one of my favorites. She uses embroidery in an abstract sense but draws inspiration from living things, whether large or molecular. Texture, depth, and color give her art a quality that I haven't found in many mediums and appeals to me very much. This essay is not concerned with a single work but rather the body of Stacey’s work as I believe they can communicate more together. Stacey, employ...
The class will be introduced to National Geographic's Explorer Wade Davis who teaches about what calls the ethnosphere, a word he uses to describe the imaginative contributions of humanity to the planet. He makes emphasis on people's stories. They are global resources, just like air, water, and green life. Just like the biosphere, the ethnosphere is also threatened by rampant modernization and globalization. ACTIVITY Collage Collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. Given the materials given in class (National Geographic magazines), create a group collage. After experiencing the activity, plan a lesson with your group members. Sources Tales of the Ethnosphere. Article: Drawing on an Outdated Theory? by Jess Dorn It is sometimes said that our brain consists of a left hemisphere that excels in intellectual, rational, verbal, and analytical thinking and a right hemisphere that excels in sensory discrimination and in emotional, nonverbal, and intuitive thinking. However, in the normal brain, with extensive commissural interconnections, the interaction of the two hemispheres is such that we cannot dissociate clearly their specialized functions. Questions 1. Why do so many children have problems with drawing? 2. What is Edward's theory? Explain 3. Why is the theory more of a useful analogy at this point?
