Analyzing a Piece of Art: Within the Context of Education

Choose an art form you feel most attracted to. Within that form (theater, dance, music, art, etc) choose an art piece that you like. Write a brief response to the piece.


RUBRIC

Research Paper (10%)

You will write a two-page paper in which you will choose an art piece related to Education. 

(Double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 font)

(No emphasis on grammar or spelling, but on expression of ideas and feelings about dance education, your experience in class, and the secondary sources you choose to cite).

Organization: (2pts)
Introduction (What are you writing about?) (.5)
Main Idea (The core of your paper (.5)
Body (Three paragraphs / Support your idea) (.5)
Conclusion (Re-state what you wrote about) (.5)
Coherence (2 pts) [Does your paper make sense]
Content (2 pts) [Have you used ideas from class?]
Integration (2 pts) [How well have you integrated experience in class with your perception of the art piece?].

Authenticity (2 pts) [How honest is your paper based on your experience in class and your love for teaching.

Collage: The Ethnosphere

  The class will be introduced to National Geographic's Explorer Wade Davis who teaches about what calls the ethnosphere, a word he uses to describe  the imaginative contributions of humanity to the planet. He makes emphasis on people's stories. They are global resources, just like air, water, and green life.  Just like the biosphere, the ethnosphere is also  threatened by rampant modernization and globalization.  ACTIVITY Collage Collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
